Week 19

Welcome to the final week of Quarter 2!

REMINDER: Monday is a full day, but Tuesday and Wednesday are both half days, and dismissal times will be 11:45, 12:05 (with older Archway sibling), and 12:25 (with older Prep sibling).

Book Exchange
In celebration of the season, we will have a class book exchange during our class celebration on Wednesday, the 18th. If your child would like to participate, please have them bring a new or gently used wrapped book to class.

Housecleaning
We will be cleaning out desks on Wednesday. Please send in a sturdy bag that your child can use to store his or her supplies and materials. Desks will be moved for cleaning purposes over break.

Clubs and Tutoring
There are NO clubs or tutoring sessions this week.

Here is our week of academics:
MATHEMATICS
We are finishing up our Unit for Multiplication and Division with 2s and 3s! We will have our last quiz of the semester on Tuesday. Please go over the study guide on Monday night with your child.
HW
Monday: 6.3 and 6.4 Quiz Worksheet
Tuesday, Wednesday: No homework

LITERATURE
Announcing our next literature selection! Please send in your child’s copy of Little House in the Big Woods. We will begin this book directly after break. It will be important for scholars to have it ready and available!

SPELLING
There are no spelling words this short week. Scholars will be taking a 70 phonogram assessment and reviewing spelling rules and manuscript handwriting in preparation for cursive instruction next semester! Please be on the lookout for handwriting homework on Monday.

GRAMMAR and WRITING
This week scholars are narrating “Alexander the Great and His Horse” and learning how to write direct quotations.

POETRY
Recitations are being held this week for “The Night Before Christmas.” Scholars should be ready to recite come Monday.


HISTORY
This week, we are wrapping up the wonderful unit on ancient Greece. A study guide will be coming home on Monday. Please be sure to study for Wednesday's test. The scholars have really enjoyed this unit, so I know they will do wonderful!

SCIENCE
This week, we have one final lesson on insects! Are they friends, or are they foes? Your scholar will have to listen carefully to find out!
